Come Together to End Hunger

After much consideration, The Food Depot has decided not to hold its annual Souper Bowl fundraiser in January, where for 26 years visitors sampled soups from dozens of local restaurants to raise money for ending hunger in Northern New Mexico. The Food Depot is thankful for your support and patience, and we hope to see you in 2023.

In the meantime, however, the need for support remains critical. Many northern New Mexicans are still recovering from the economic effects of the pandemic. You can make a difference for northern New Mexicans experiencing food insecurity when you support The Food Depot in these other ways.

Your financial support increases the amount and type of food the food bank can provide.

Thanks to bulk food discounts and its network of hunger-relief partners, The Food Depot can feed four people for every dollar donated.

Donations of nonperishable food, paper bags and diapers are accepted at the warehouse at 1222 A Siler Rd. (the warehouse behind Kitchen Angels) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Need help thinking of what to donate? Think of a meal you would like to eat with your family.

You can also help by speaking out and educating others in your community organization, faith group, school or workplace, about the problem of hunger. Community food drives are an excellent way to get food distributed to Northern New Mexicans in need. Find suggestions for organizing your drive at thefooddepot.org/advocate/. The Food Depot can provide collection barrels if needed; call (505) 471-1633.

Whether the donation is small or large, financial or food, every single donation is appreciated and makes a difference. Visit thefooddepot.org to learn more about The Food Depot’s hunger-relief work and ways you can help. The Food Depot wishes everyone a healthy and safe holiday season. Thank you for your support!
